The starting point

During the spring of 2014, I realized that the only way to get the big picture of ALS inside my head was to actually draw it. Until then I had spent countless hours crawling through PubMed, but nothing seemed to converge. The loss of the use of my hands was kind of a problem until I found a mindmapping tool well suited for operation through the eye gaze device. Since then, I have tried to link all my findings to the picture, and over time the picture has become.. well, big.

The latest version of the mind map can be found here.

The color symbols in the mind map are as follows:

  • Green – link to a data collection or analysis page created by me
  • Red – link to an external page
  • Blue – link to a discussion thread on the als.net forum
  • Yellow – potential for therapeutic intervention
